The IT Security Unit (ITSU), Mauritius was established in August 2004 under the Ministry of Technology, Communication and Innovation to act as a key contact point for IT Security in Government. It disseminates knowledge on information security, promotes the implementation of information security standards and establishes IT security practices within the Government. It aims to create and maintain a positive environment to harness Information and Communication Technologies.
ITSU collaborated with VertexPlus to implement an effective and robust web-based Automated IT Security and Incident Handling system (accessible using Intranet) in the Government cloud environment. It is a stand-alone system for all the departments to:
Record, investigate, escalate and resolve security incidents
Identify real-time IT security incidents to avert mishappening
ITSU wanted to manage the IT security incidents in the Civil Service in an effcient and timely
manner. However, they were unable to do so due to the following hindrances:-

To enable ITSU to meet their objectives, VertexPlus designed and implemented a web-based application in all the departments of ITSU that helped them in the following ways:
A workflow based system to record, investigate, escalate and resolve the security incidents
Centralization of the data facilitated timely information on resolution & recovery
Analyze and investigate the incidents
Facilitated new registration of incidents by various Government Ministries and Departments
Performing analysis, providing resolution and do the recovery process
Knowledge-based and intelligent feature allowed lookup of other incidents of similar nature and provided a ready solution in minimum time
